The prayers of the Saints

When I had trouble in my pregancy I would turn to my brothers and sisters in Christ to ask for prayer. The Lord heard the cries of His children and was merciful on me.

I ask you to pray for a family who desperatly needs prayer. Pray and please leave them a message letting them know you are praying. I know how encouraging it is in dark times, and this family is in dark times.

Sleep deprivation and Charity

Abigail is sleeping. She is so beautiful when she sleeps. Not only is her chubby face so sweet that I could stare at her all day and night, but, when I can break myself away, I can actually accomplish some things around the house.

It is amazing what a difference sleep makes. When Abigail sleeps I can get cleaned and dressed, eat, do laundry, dishes if I’m quiet, catch up on my email, blog, or sleep myself. When I sleep and am rested, I am cheerful and eager to see what wonderful things Abigail will do next. When I don’t sleep, well, I am tested.

On Submission, Part I

When my husband became a believer everything changed. Not the very next day, but very rapidly we both grew closer to the Lord and each other. I was encouraged to grow in my own relationship with the Lord by seeing Brandon’s commitment. I had accepted Christ as a child, but had no (human) guidance and never grew.

I began my study searching verses to strengthen my marriage. After our miscarriage and my sorrow, which grew as time increased, we had some difficulties in our marriage. Brandon was harsh and I was weepy and instigating. I sought out passages to teach me my role as a woman and a wife.

Help thou mine unbelief

My husband and I were barren for four years. It was during this time that we became convicted about allowing God to control the size of our family. In His wisdom and timing we became pregnant this year and I gave birth to our first borne less than two months ago.

Recently I started feeling different. I was having a few symptoms of pregnancy. I took a test and it appeared very very faintly positive. I was surprised at my mixed emotions. Abigail’s pregnancy had been very hard on my body, in the end I developed preeclampsia, a dangerous disease of pregnancy that can cause stroke and seizure from high blood pressure. Therefore the thought of perhaps being pregnant again so soon scared me.

Hats

Several years ago, when Brandon and I were attending a small southern Baptist church in our area, I attended a women’s night out. I remember we had an activity in which we were to pair up and describe all the different “hats” we must wear as women. (The CCM song by that title by Amy Grant was stuck in my head for weeks.) As I turned to the woman next to me I explained I didn’t really believe I wore different hats. She stated that of course I did, all women did, we had a mother hat, a wife hat, a career hat and so on. She simply wished she could take off all these hats and just be herself for once.
